Introduction
EasyMerge is a GitHub App that reviews pull requests with an LLM. Install it on a repository and every PR gets reviewed automatically — no command to run, no workflow file to add.
What you get on a pull request
When a pull request is opened or updated:
- a check run named EasyMerge Review appears on the head commit and tracks the review from queued to its result;
- one GitHub review is posted, its body carrying a recommendation, a written summary of the change and a merge confidence score;
- each finding sits as an inline comment on the line it refers to, with a code suggestion where a concrete fix is possible.
Everything is visible in two places: the pull request itself, and the web dashboard, where you can follow a review live and browse past ones.
What it reviews
Only the changed lines in the diff. A review never reads your whole repository, and it will not comment on code you did not touch. Each finding carries:
- a file and line (or line range, for multi-line findings),
- a severity — critical, warning, or info,
- a short explanation,
- optionally, a code suggestion you can commit straight from GitHub.
Files you have excluded, and files GitHub provides no diff for, are left out — see Excluding files.
Separately from reviews, you can ask EasyMerge for a repository's project status: a read of how the project is set up, taken from its structure and its configuration files. It runs only when you press the button, and nothing about it reaches your pull requests.
What it does not do
- It does not merge, approve, or block your pull requests. Reviews are posted as comments; branch protection is yours to configure.
- It does not push commits or open PRs of its own.
- It does not run your tests, linters, or build. Keep those in CI.
- It does not review issues, wikis, or anything outside pull requests.
Where to go next
- How it works — what happens between opening a PR and reading the comments.
